(H)ate (Y)ou Airlines. Today its 103-strong fleet flies to 138 points in a network stretching from Tokyo to Chicago. Its image has soared. Its growth rate is at least twice the European average. Although still state-controlled, it is consistently profitable.

A team led by the author initiated this transformation. This is the story of that effort and the various major crises THY subsequently flew through. As a management “case” it is already being used in university courses. It is also an entertaining yarn with many colorful characters such as prime minister Turgut Özal. Its radar sweeps over many events and developments in global civil aviation during the 1988-2003 period.

During his career Cem Kozlu has served as a Member of the Turkish Parliament, Chairman and CEO of Turkish Airlines, Chairman of the Association of European Airlines (AEA), and as Group President of the Coca-Cola Company. He is currently on the Board of Directors of the International Airline Training Fund (IATF) (CH) and TAV Airports Holding A.Ş. “Rising Above The Clouds” is his sixth book.
