The Teke Peninsula in The south-west of Anatolia was inhabited from the seventh century B.C. anwardsz by a tribe of Anatolian origin renowned as sailors and warriors. Tehe small city states that were founded in this region united to form a confederation against the danger of invasion and, as they had similar religius beliefs, they gathered around the federal temple of Letoon.
