Artık kurşun harfler ve klişeler yerini dev rotatiflere ve ofsetlere bıraktı. Fotoğraf SANAT mı, değil mi? ---zrfismalarına sinema sanatının ustaları donuk karelerle yanıt vererek fotoğrafa işlevselliğinin yanı sıra estetik ve sanatı da kattı. Bu gelişim fotoğraf anlayışını da önemli ölçüde etkiledi. TV haberciliğinde fotoğrafın dondurulması, haberin ayrıntılarının altını çizen bir yön-tem olarak uygulanır oldu. Hareketli görüntünün kanıt sayılabilmesi için illaki fotoğraf biçimine dönüştürülmesi zorunluğu, fotoğrafın hem gücünü hem de önemini bir kez daha kanıtladı. Ve mesleğimizin ustaları... HELLO From glass negatives to black and white films... From black and white photographs to color photographs... From box-machines to digital cameras... From the cylinder telephotos used for black and white pho-tographs to computer-aided transmitters... This revolution, which has been created by the societies which are preoccupied with science, and not with poli-ics as some do, has entered into our country and into our lives in a much shorter span of time than the print-ing press did. The printing letters and stereotypes made of lead have now been replaced by giant rototives and offset printing machines. The question: "Is photography and ART or not?" has been anwsered by the masters of the cinema-art by producing frozen pictures, thus instilling, besides func-tionality, esthetics and art into the photography. This development has affected understanding of photogra-phy to a great extent. Freezing of pictures in TV news programs has become a method underlining the details of the news. The fact that in order for a moving image ta be consid-ered an evidence it must be turned into a photograph has proven once more both the power and importance of photography. And the masters of our profession, like Mustafa TÜRKYILMAZ, Ara GÜLER, F4ffet OTYAM, and Coşkun ARAL have shown the indispensability of photography along the dimensions of news, art and documentaries. Now it's the turn of the young REPORTERS. Because the saying: "First There was the Word", has now been replaced by: "First There was the Image". What will remain as heritage to the future, more than and beyond the voice and the word, is the PHOTOGRAPH. Push the shutter-release button, stop that moment, seal that time...
