A far as scope is concerned, the full-length play has been the norm with playwrights ever since antiquity. The writing of short, independent plays started to gain momentum from the nineteenth-century on, despite the fact that this type of drama does not frequently get staged for box-office reasons. However, this important disadvantage has not deterred major playwrights from writing short plays. Experimental theatre in general, and the absurd theatre in particular, are especially propitious for the writing of this type of drama. (Kitabın Girişinden)
