FOREWORD

For many years hymn singing has been a difficult problem in our churches because of the Armenian, Turkish and English speaking elements in the congregations. To remedy this situation the Lord ut upon my heart the work of preparing a hymnal of three languages, which I started in the year 1925.

The difficulties contained in this work were more than I could imagine at the time I started. But after all these long years of hard work, putting in also my musical knowledge, I praise the Lord, that He enabled me to put this hymnal into publication.

Every effort has been made that the hymnal should contain hymns for all occasions, and a good selection of responsive readings. Also great care has been taken that the new translations into the Armenian and Turkish languages meet the rules of music and singing.

I desire to acknowledge the valued assistance given by Hope Publishing Company, Rodeheaver Company, Hall-Mack Company, Lillenas Pub. Company, Nazarene Pub. House, Robert Coleman, Herbert Tovey, Bennard Music Co. and many other individuals or societies who granted permission for the free use of their copyrighted hymns, which I believe, was prompted solely with the desire of serving the Lord Jesus Christ, by putting these hymns in the hands of our people.

Though every effort has been made to find the right owners of copyrights to secure their permissions, yet if any unintentional mistake has been made, or any copyright has been overlooked, I apologize, and shall be glad to give satisfaction when informed.

Regardless of the painstaking effort the book is not faultless and perfect, and I am open to criticism. _It is not possible to cover fully in one book like this, the numerous sacred hymns and Gospel Songs, favored by all, as such work would be too voluminous. But the work as herein contained is sent forth with prayer that our heavenly Father may use it for the salvation of sinners, for the edification of saints and for the glory of His own name, till we join the choir of all saints in heaven to sing the “Song of Moses ...and of the Lamb”. Rev. 15:3.
