Winds of Modernity in Architecture - #smrgKİTABEVİ
195
Prof. Dr. Murat Eriç (M. Arch.) was born in Istanbul in 1943. Between 1967 and 2010, he taught Building Physics, Materials, and Architectural Design Studio courses at the Department of Architecture, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Architecture is, in a sense, the garment of civilizations. By observing architecture, it is possible to understand the culture and vision of a society. Throughout history, architects have integrated their innovations into buildings, reflecting various trends. As with every art form, many individual artists have been swept up in this wind. Written in a narrative style, this book presents the connections between architects of the period and fundamental architectural concepts in an engaging manner.
Our story begins with the pleasant days a Spanish architect spent in Paris in 1935 and ends with his return to Barcelona via Istanbul. Through dialogue-driven narratives, the reader will journey through the spaces of the past, following the Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and Bauhaus phases step by step. The analysis of cross-cultural modernism presented here prompts the reader to make comparisons and reflect on the present.
