The Timurid period in Iran's history is identified with the splendours of the Islamic miniatures paintings that have been produced in three major artistic centers, Tabriz, Shiraz and Herat. This is the first detailed study on the subject that have ever been published. Stchoukine discusses the different famous illustrated manuscripts such as Aja'ib al-Makhlukat by al-Qazwini, the Shah Nameh, Jam'i al-Tawareekh and others. He also discusses the landscape, architectural decors, animals, and human inages depicted in these manuscripts.
